Installation Guide & Requests

Thank you for purchasing water treatment or a UV air purification system from Dakota Water Treatment. We truly appreciate your business and the confidence you have placed in us. We look forward to providing you professional and friendly service.

 

We have prepared for the installation of your water treatment. Our technicians will operate in a professional and neat manner. You may notice we wear shoes while installing equipment, this is for our safety as socks or shoe booties can be very dangerous while carrying heavy equipment up and down stairs.  In inclimate weather we will use all caution to keep your home clean.

 

 

 

Prior to your scheduled Installation

  • We ask that you prepare the work area so that we may work in a safe, efficient manner.

  • In inclimate weather we ask that you shovel and/or salt the sidewalk. Please remove snow prior to your scheduled appointment.

  • Please secure pets. We appreciate litter boxes being removed from the installation area.

  • We ask that we have at least 3' of clearance on stairs to bring equipment in safely. 

  • We appreciate 2'- 3' open access around the equipment we need to work on. Please remove storage boxes, Christmas trees, loose shelving, laundry, paint cans, etc. prior to your scheduled appointment.  This will greatly help our technician stay on schedule.

  • If you are running late, or unable to make your appointment, please give our office a call so we can inform the technician.

  • If you are ill or someone in your home is ill we ask that you reschedule your appointment.

 

What to expect on the day of your installation

  • When the technician arrives he will first look at the application and answer any questions or concerns that you may have.

  •  On a typical day the technician may have 3-6  jobs on his schedule.  To help our technician stay on schedule we ask that during the installation you leave the technician to perform his services.

  • Once your installation is complete the technician will have you return to the room to go over operating instructions and answer any questions you may have.

 

 

After the Installation

  • You may notice cloudy water or your faucet may sputter. This is due to air trapped in your lines which is harmless and will resolve itself right away. 

  • Your water softener is pre-charged so you are instantly on soft water. You water heater will still have hard water stored in it, you may choose to purge the water from the water heater so that you will have soft hot water right away. The easiest way to purge your water heater is by turning on multiple hot water (bath tub)  faucets. Let the water run until cold.

  • We do not carry water softener salt on our service trucks.  Your softener is pre-charged so you should have at least 4-5 days to get salt in the salt bin.

  • We recommend using crystal salt in all of our water softeners. Crystal salt is typically found in a blue bag and can be found at grocery stores, wholesale clubs, home improvement stores and gas stations. We do not recommend the use of pellet, rock or block salt. 

  • If you have the Millennium water softener you will want to keep the salt bin at least half full at all times. 

  • If you have any questions about your water softener or drinking water system we welcome you to give us a call.

  • Service manuals can be found on our website under the water softener tab. Your water softener has been programmed to operate in the most efficient manner as recommended by the manufacturer. Before making any adjustments to your settings we highly recommend calling us first.
